There's something about the screenplay which smacks of a Woman's TV channel cautionary tale, but that being said, Emília Vásáryová deserves the highest praise for her role as Eva. The film only works because of her insistence in the character's complex depth. Should be seen by millions and applauded raucously.
A stark and searing drama about an ageing actress trying to repent for her past sins. Emilia Vasaryova's performance is astounding and she carries the picture. With subtle shifts in her face, she conveys pathos, regret, manipulation, and sorrow in a film that gives us a multi-dimensional and flawed female character. Also exposes sexism, ageism, and misogyny in the film industry.
