What are people saying?

  • Ruben Vanden Berghe's rating of the film Farewells

As a more fleshed-out version of 'Seagulls Die in the Harbour', this novel adaption deals with pretty much the same kind of existential restlessness, again with the Antwerp harbour as melancholy backdrop. Every time a character mentions 'giving up', the black void informing their actions becomes eerily palpable. Far from perfect, e.g. the all too mechanical flashbacks, but a hidden Belgian gem nonetheless.
