  • El Biffo's rating of the film Fast Workers

As far as I'm concerned, Tod Browning was one of the greatest American filmmakers ever. This one had me from the first scene, perilously on the 40th floor of a steel frame of a building under construction, where riveters casually walk around like they were on the ground. Nothing overtly naughty in this pre-Code pic, but the dialogue is loaded with innuendo. I love the way Tod Browning films a story. 4++ stars
