"The fear of proving the superiority of the western civilization to the afghan villager watching tv with me" ... a bottled horror in need of releasing, of siccing the helldogs unto the viewer. A robust anthology that suffers from the fluctuating quality most do. Highlights are the incredible stories of the crocodile and of the insects... an audible chirping inside your bed, for years and years.
Sometimes visually stunning, sometimes with good story, but all together didn't work very well.
two shorts are really good, albeit in a different ways - one visually, the other one from a narrative standpoint - but they would really function better as stand alone features, something you'd see online, than integrated in this anthology which thematically might as well be held together by strings
Arte animata. Una meraviglia questo film d'animazione collettivo. Ogni episodio è senza titolo ma ogni episodio ha il tema comune della paura. La paura, questa conosciuta.
It felt like a graphic had novel come to life. The art style alone is worth the watch.
The textures of the animation are really great, but the writing feels a little weak in most episodes. It's the final episode that makes this film worth watching though. A wonderfully cinematic tale that reall plays with light and dark to great effect, and basically without dialogue. Worth watching for this episode alone.
"Sometimes I am afraid I put the caps on the wrong markers. But one must always embrace chaos."
Weird, uneven and kinda frightening. An experimental film, mostly successful.
It has a very much disturbing and terrifying scenes, like a kafkaesque atmosphere. This is the best animation that I've ever seen!
This superb collection of short animated horror films shows just what can be done with both animation and the horror genre. Five unique artists with diverse and often brilliant animation styles that manage to coalesce into an extraordinary whole. This is a near masterpiece that deserves wider recognition.
"Fear(s) of the Dark" is as good as "Persepolis." It's full of mystery, suspense, horror, intrigue, and really badass animation.
Sooo good and creepy as hell. The man with the dogs is one of the most terrifying characters I have ever seen on the screen. Got to see this on the big screen as well.
