Sketchbook or lazy doodles? This is a fitfully entertaining rehash of motifs past and a portent of freakery to come. Interesting more as a waypoint and an extra helping of Fellini than a satisfying whole. Rather an odd choice for NBC but less odd that the carpet-making sponsors shunned it’s ramshackle parade of prostitutes and drop-outs!
Fellini mockumentary that is a semi-interesting, but rather rambling piece about the director's unfinished film The Voyage of G. Mastorna, and his then upcoming work, the ancient Roman picture Satyricon. The opening images of a huge abandoned set with wind blowing through it to Nino Rota's music are hauting, the rest of the picture just seems like a collection of unfocused ideas/promotional material. Underwhelming.
