I love Bette and Joan and Jessica and Susan, and this series is an immense pleasure to watch, especially if you're familiar with these figures and their work. And what a stroke of genius having John Waters show up as William Castle, because he's the only kindred spirit still alive (and, on an unrelated point, is also the only one who ever championed "Trog" in a non-sadistic way).
Thank god Sarandon and Lange are good friends, because if they weren't the next Emmys and Golden Globes would be a battlefield. They are both brilliant at playing Davis and Crawford, but for me Sarandon finishes first. Superb cast and production values. The last episode completely destroyed me! Yet again Murphy proves how much he excels at storytelling based on real-life events and people. Now it's Charles vs. Diana!
The film industry is plagued by puppeteers, salacious gossip mongers, infidelity, betrayal and egomaniacs amidst a hotbed of talent and profound artistic expression. This TV mini-series is a revelation in exculpating the demeanour of two great figures of acting. Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange are on top form throughout.
THIS IS AWESOME. What is more awesome than watching two great actresses portrayed two greatest Hollywood beauties? Bette Davis & Joan Crawford were extraordinary in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?. Especially Bette, Baby Jane Hudson was iconic. It's great to see some tension/focuses on their feud behind the screen.
