So much talent, such a dumb picture. It kills me to see how misguided Hollywood can be, even with all the filmmaking talent money can buy. There are moments of pure cinema beauty here, and solid performances from Hollywood greats Stanwyck and Robinson but it all adds up to a lot of pablum.
A light little anthology with a dash of mystery, intrigue, and supernatural here and there. Solid performances from everyone, but overall not that memorable a film, especially with the useless and boring frame story. The deleted segment sounds nice, but I don't know if it would have fitted with the other three. The disgarded material, however, can be seen in the film noir Destiny (1944).
