In the beginning, this film did not fascinate me. It was a little too soft and teenager-ish. Gradually the film got more depth. It’s about a religious population and how young people feel hindered by being a part of that group. That’s why they want to discover the ‘normal’ world. Influence of religious (and other) indoctrination is still relevant today. But in this film it is all a bit too nice and predictable.
unpretentious. don't expect philosophical questionings of conservative religion, don't expect ingenious twists to the country-good/city-bad narratives, none of that happens. it is personal and on a level so small that you wonder if it were simply someone trying to film a memory lest they forget.
