Hugely entertaining and exaggerated performance by Tim Roth! Four Rooms is split into linear segments; the first "The Missing Ingredient" unfortunately sets the wrong tone for me, and feels out of place in the whole narrative. The build-up to the Tarantino story is worth the wait, with fantastic dialogue, long-takes, and a very funny final sequence!
Rodriguez's "The Misbehavers" is actually pretty good. If I were to score them individually, I'd say Anders - 1 (fuckin' unbearable), Rockwell - 1.5, Rodriguez - 4.5, Tarantino - 3, an average of 2.5. The only reason that kept me going through the first half an hour was Tim Roth.
One hotel, four crazy stories... Tim Roth is great as Ted the Bellhop. Each story is different and brings something fresh, they are cleverly connected and work nice as a whole. Unfortunately not all of them are equally strong, especially the final one was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, this is a very interesting film, great humour, four different directors, each bringing their own style.
Not really my thing, but unlike several of the single word 'reviews' posted, there is something to it - Madonna in a black latex outfit, for a start. Mubi has offered us much worse than this. The Tarantino finale is not the stand-out segment IMHO, but is a fitting, engaging conclusion.
