  1. fleur de chair's rating of the film Francis Bacon: A Brush with Violence

A pretty swell Art History Kiki, which in addition to being juicy as hell provides some solid insight into the chaotic and harrowing relationships that shaped Bacon's artistic sensibilities.

  2. anarresti's rating of the film Francis Bacon: A Brush with Violence

I knew nothing about Bacon and had seen his paintings in a big retrospective in Porto, where I live. Quite frankly, at the time I was repulsed by them. Watching this I think my repulsion might be explaing by a certain brutality, sometimes coldness expoitation of human emotion. I feel he is, at times, a kind of anti Nan Goldin, with her photos there is a brutal vulnerability. And I can relate. Not here*
