Underwhelming ending to the series even if it is in 3D as Freddy fights to "his death". Too many one-liners and "fun" ideas mixed together in a soup as the film seem to cram in as much gimmicks as possible. The cameo from Johnny Depp is disappointing and terrible and this chapter becomes the most forgettable of all the films.
Ah the much maligned Freddy's Dead... Where to begin with this one? Do I start with a joke about Freddy cosplaying as the Wicked Witch of the West? Or do I mock the bafflingly convoluted story? I honestly don't know where to even begin with this one. Is this how they end the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise? It just feels so anticlimactic... If it wasn't for Robert Englund this movie would be unbearable!
It is so strange retrospectively (a post nightmare suicide America and 20 minutes of grunge coloured 3D tacked on the end) it is quite a good film. The acting is no good like every film and the motifs consistent but there are some scares and Talalay handles the material considerably well given the constraints.
