The physics lab has been working overtime on boob bouncing. The outfits designed for the women enhance it even more. The character design is so much better in this one than the live action movies. The only problem is that Gantz is a long story and deserves a well-funded series, and not that half-assed cartoon of years ago. They end up telling the origin story over and over. It was nice to finally see the Osaka group.
If animation allows more freedom - although with computers, everything is now possible, what made Gantz so unique is Hiroya Oku's extremely pessimistic view on Japan's youth, combined with a fairly ferocious sense of humour. The film does quite a respectable job visually, but the story has been watered-down and made palatable, turning the film into one of those many fight-the-evil-aliens flicks. A pity.
I gave it 3.5 Stars because i'm a fan of this manga. They changed a little bit from manga but overall they did capture the atmostphere, concept and imagination of the manga. I hope one day I can watch the whole story uncut with extra unexplained contents. As long as it still the top 1 manga in my life, this film/movie did bring me back to the golden age in 2012 when the manga end. Bring me back to Gantz world, plz
