What are people saying?

  • Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Gloss

Well, subtle it ain't: Konchalovsky's portrait of the New Russia is positively drowning in scorn. "There are three types of people in this world: those who buy, those who sell, and those who are sold," learns the heroine. The film portrays a world in which stupidity, venality, criminality, violence, and "anti-art" rule. Depressing, especially for a supposed comedy, but I'm unsure how much of an exaggeration it is.
