  2. smndvdcl's rating of the film Glumov's Diary

A brief, rote short film starting point for Eisenstein which seems more of an acquainting with the camera equipment that he would later master rather than evidence and signs of his high-art expertise prevalent in 'October' and 'Battleship Potemkin'.

  4. Matthew_Lucas's rating of the film Glumov's Diary

The first film by Sergei Eisenstein is an interesting historical artifact, but nearly impossible to judge on its own. Filmed as an insert to the stage play, "Enough Stupidity in Every Wise Man," GLUMOV'S DIARY is a whirlwind pastiche of camera tricks and acrobatics that makes little narrative sense, but demonstrates Eisenstein's early mastery of editing and visual panache.
