Predictable story with weak characters and plot about a son of a dysfunctional family that wants to become a priest. The only person that could give some power to this story is Laura Morante, the mother. Even she was reneged for a typical character who suffers from depression and alcoholism as a result of an existential crisis. What a waste.
Almost seems like the director was trying to make the most predictable film he could. God Willing is unforgivingly full of cliches and its attempt to reconcile science/reason with religion is pathetic and cowardly. The message at the end is cheap and intellectually bankrupt.
