Ratings & Reviews

  1. Daniel S.'s rating of the film God's Little Acre

    Robert Ryan's performance is powerful.

  2. Nelson Núñez's rating of the film God's Little Acre

  3. SpacePirate's rating of the film God's Little Acre

A decent flick, that could benefit from some editing. Ryan is superb as the patriarch, but some of the supporting cast ham it up a bit in their attempt to be Southern, and it detracts a bit from what couldve been a great film. This had potential to be another classic from Mann, ala Naked Spur, but as it is, its just ok.

  4. Keisuke Kawasaki's rating of the film God's Little Acre

It is one of Mann's favorite works. The film is quite different from his usual works, in another words, he could express his own might quite freely under the independent production. Yet, it is quite Mann's film and it is beautiful one indeed. There are no good men nor women, but in same time, there are no bad men nor women. It possesses beautiful landscape. It shows a moment of violence which electrifies the scene.

  5. Christopher R. Smith's rating of the film God's Little Acre

An unusual offering from Mann is this offbeat Southern Gothic farce. Great over the top characters - Robert Ryan's Ty Ty, in particular, is easily one of his best roles - and overheated Deep South melodrama brimming with sexual energy. Unfortunately, it's also overlong and awkwardly paced, making it only a minor classic. Great score by Elmer Bernstein.
