Making their way out west to search for gold, the members of a small rural community experience an awakening and embrace the hippie lifestyle in this groovy 1968 comedy starring Del Close and Garry Goodrow.

"Gold" has a lot of good things with it. It is based upon a novel and screenplay by Wilbur Smith who is an expert on Africa and the movie feels realistic and full of atmospheric style. I also like the cast and Roger Moore feels more believable and relaxed than he ever was as 007 here. Peter R. Hunt is an underrated director and great editor who lets the story be told before he gives us the pay off. Solid film.
