Overall, it's a great movie, but for me, it was ruined by one little scene somewhere a quarter of its runtime: when his so called brother suddenly dissapear from the car, and it shows through the glass. It just a complete garbage. And I have to say, the movie is nothing to compared to David Lynch's work. But still, it's intriguing and thought provoking
Gozu is a total mindfuck about a young yakuza attempting to find his boss and while trying to do so endures situations both deeply disturbing and totally hilarious. While no the kind of movie that Miike came to be associated with, certain stalwarts of Miike movies are here: lactating breasts, sexual denial and dark, dark humor etc.
A haunting circle of madness, the depths of which nobody seems to really understand. It warrants multiple viewings, and is certainly one of Miike's best efforts, but that doesn't mean it's decipherable. It's more of an experience. Darkly humourous, violent, disturbing - truly a nightmare.
