This musical comedy is no masterpiece and appears old-fashioned even for the year of its production. The potentials unfortunately are given away by point- and endless dialogues without timing and by a lot of mediocre musical performances. I don't consider Marlon Brando and Jean Simmons as good singers, and even Sinatra lacks his customary spirit (but he at least gets better after his first, unsatisfactory entry).
CINEMA _ Great fun and quality entertainment. Brando could sing ! And Mankiewicz do pretty much anything you ask him to. War film, peplum, drama, here a colourful musical with rythm, love and all the classics. We'll pass on the stupid misogyny for this time. Enjoy Brando, Sinatra, Havanna for an evening and beautiful Jean Simmons in one of her best roles.
