  • El Biffo's rating of the film Hardkor Disko

The only reason I'm reviewing this shit is because no one else did. Predictable and pointless: boy meets girl, boy kills girl's parents, boy takes shower, girl takes shower (extended shower scenes). The only way I made it through the whole thing was by turning down the volume and listening to the evening news while I watched and read the subtitles, which weren't very distracting. The news was pretty boring, too.

This movie & Krzysztof Skonieczny is most outstanding discovery for me in contemporary Polish cinema. Synopsys is simple as "A boy is going to kill a family" but in this commingle a explosive chaos called primal desire & minimal narrative in mature intensity with powerfully meditative long-take & colorful music which makes me nervous, excited, chilled, astonished & speachless. Devastatingly sublime debut feature.
