This movie is carried by Newman just being the coolest dude alive in movies at the time. He just makes every scene work in a film that would likely be a trainwreck without him anchoring the proceedings. I didn't particularly care for the ending, but it was a fun ride. Recommended. Extra star added for Paul's endless swagger here. 4 stars
TV. Cool for a cat. One of those films where the industrial values are calculated for an entertainment above the sum of its parts and in which the language without venturing finds a point of harmony that simultaneously does not innovate but finds imagination in its cliches, being a very playful reconstruction of the thriller. The cat is obviously Paul Newman, here in one of the peaks of his wounded masculinity.
3 1/2 out of 5 stars. Harper is like the pothead spawn of an alcoholic Raymond Chandler novel. Sure he lives in his old man's shadow and scrambles around more than he needs to. Harper's damn pretty, has a great cast and talks smooth. He's also decent and entertaining despite being scatterbrained as hell by the end.
