HAVE A NICE DAY has a lot of pieces in play, all of them pawns. Much fuss is made in order to establish a set of parameters and set some dramatic trajectories in motion, but it all comes careening toward an unsatisfactory resolution way too expediently. The biggest problem w/ this movie is how abbreviated and perfunctory it all feels, but I will concede that there is a lot of visual and aural imagination.
A classic “robbery-gone-awry-and-everybody-is-killing-to get-the-money”. The script is inventive in the way it intertwines the characters and plot twists, plus it’s got some nice mono-&dialogues. The laconic animation is in stark contrast with the craziness that’s taking place on the screen. Some might like this antithesis but I think that a more dynamic animation would’ve been better. A matter of taste, I reckon.
