30 hand-picked films. A new one every day
This rapid-fire, avant-garde look at the world of director Jonas Mekas is filmed like a Sesame Street episode for adults.
1986 | Winner: Independent/Experimental Film and Video Award
The way Jonas Mekas makes these films amazes me. It's like the camera is an extension of his body, the editing is as rapid as his brain functions and the finished product tells the story of a gifted life.
this film is important not only as an anthropology film around the american avant-gardes, but also to place Mekas cinema in a larger community - which of course is always present in his films.
I watched this film as a celebration of Jonas Mekas and it shows that he really lived life....
