'Smells Like Teen Spirit' may have been the music video catalyst to launch Nirvana into the mainstream, but the subversion of religious imagery in 'Heart-Shaped Box' echoes Madonna's 'Like A Prayer'. "Hey, wait, I've got a real complaint. Forever in debt to your priceless advice."
Sure the video is cool, fits the mood of the tune (despite the slight overuse of de rigeur lip-synching/air guitar playing band images), and is decidedly one of the greatest music videos of my adolescence, but overall this is just a reminder that the world lost a damn good pop poet far too soon...
