Heimat II: A Chronicle of a GenerationDirected byEdgar Reitz
Arguably the best film (or should that be film cycle) you've never heard of. Sumptuous, warm but intellectually firepower-ful stuff chronicling the coming of age of a bohemian student-genius in Munich through the full gamut of the 1960s. Oh and I wrote my thesis on it, so feel fee to ask me anything you like :) Particularly great for fans of film, music, visual arts, history or anyone improving their German.
Saw the 13 chapters many years ago. Goehte Institut. Would like to see it again. The aesthetic view of life, the philosophical perspective, the search for a healty identity after XXII based on music and poetry. High impact photography, shiny black and white images.
Once you've seen it, you feel the urge to let your dear ones get a glance of it.
Even if they find it difficult to comprehend or get tired by the long- cut scenes, you've done your duty to the soul of this movie.
