Was "The Road" not released in Germany? It's evident that at least the book made its way there, because this is essentially the exact same story, only hot and dusty in replacement of cold and wet. While the visual style is bleak and controlled (yet necessarily manic), it is otherwise so alike "The Road" that it's an unnecessary watch. Where "The Road" was loaded with emotion and pain, "Hell" was sterile and visual.
A great looking post-apocalyptic road movie that treads similar ground to 'The Road'. It starts out with so much potential, the look is right, the dust is right, the acting is decent but by the end it abandons philosophy and descends almost into zombie-horror territory. P.s. how long does a walkie talkie battery last? not that long. 2.5 stars
