Wonderful short by Chloe Robinchaud (Sarah Prefers to Run) about a young woman finding empowerment through unexpected circumstances. Just the right length with the proper touch of humour and poignancy.
Besides being a bittersweet story that leaves you wanting to hug Clara, I love how Robichaud managed to handle action in off and use intercuts as part of the narration. So much happens in the story, that we don't see but understand without the need of obviousness.
I really adore this sketch! It's proof of what you can do in 10 minutes, with little comic details tucked in around the corners and sudden turns in the narrative. Now I need to track down Chloe's feature...
Beautifully shot with tremendous care and attention to detail. The scene in the kitchen is so great;nothing is said and so much happens as well the colours are fantastic. Also a sweet, gentle and very poignant little film.
First scene didn't really grab me - okay, she's single, we get it. It quickly turned around for me as I just couldn't help but be won over by the appearance of wee Jackie. Made me laugh and (almost) cry in the space of ten minutes. Dogs are cool.
