  1. InsertOzuReferencehere's rating of the film Heroes of the East

I think this film is overlooked for its (probably unintentional) parable take on multiculturalism. I wouldn’t call the first act a “silly battle of the sexes”, especially when the conflict is clearly based on culture not really gender focused marital domestics … but hey, that’s just me. The fight scenes are so cool too.

  2. msmichel's rating of the film Heroes of the East

What starts off as a silly battle of the sexes evolves into one of the most satisfying Shaw films as a Chinese martial arts master finds himself challenged by 7 Japanese masters due to a misunderstood letter he sent to his Japanese bride. Fight choreography is quite spectacular as is the lead turn by a young Gordon Liu.

  3. filmcapsule's rating of the film Heroes of the East

A bit too caught up in the schematics of each fight (kung fu v. judo; kung fu v. nunchucks) to be as engrossing as some of Lau's other films. Gordon Liu is always so soulful, but his character is a petulant and harder to get behind here.
