Ratings & Reviews

  1. Ghostman's rating of the film Highway Patrolman

A masterpiece. Alex Cox is a great director who never got the career he deserved.

  2. Lorna Singh's rating of the film Highway Patrolman

A British director ( Alex Cox ---Sid And Nancy ) giving us more than a slice of life into a town in rural Mexico. Made 25 years ago, one gets the feeling for today's reality there would be more violence.

  3. Francisco R.'s rating of the film Highway Patrolman

My favorite Alex Cox film by far. This is a hugely underrated film clearly inspired by Buñuel's own maverick period in Mexico. It's a shame that it's so hard to find nowadays.

  4. Michael J. Brown's rating of the film Highway Patrolman

Great casting, suburb script. Surrealism & economy of Bunuel + long fluid takes of Ripstein. Cox's best? If I owned a theater, I'd show this in a double feature after Repo Man. Alex Cox is canny at finding acting talent before they break out, e.g. Emilio Estevez, Miguel Sandoval, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Courtney Love---and don't get me started on Sy Richardson. Here we have Vanessa Bauche in her first feature film.
