Ratings & Reviews

  1. dionysus67's rating of the film Hokusai

Other reviewers rightly point to the absence of color, which would have enhanced the impact of the already evocative art of ukio-e artist. Spanning Hukousai's entire life through his engravings, Teshighara paints a model of the artist as a constant learner at the periphery of society. Poverty and human vice take the shape of a world as threatening and imposing as the huge waves at the end vis-a-vis a Spartan artist.

  9. joey Noodles's rating of the film Hokusai

This film would benefit hugely if it were to be seen in colour, Hokusai's beautiful prints aren't quite given full life without that vibrancy, but a film of interest indeed.
