In Yim Ho’s ‘’Homecoming,’’ a beautiful, modern woman makes a long visit to the small Chinese village in which she was raised. The air of the film is anything but nostalgic, since its stunning heroine, Shan Shan (Si Qin Gao Wa), has a ruefulness bordering on despondency.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
A script to die for and one of the best collections of deceptively simple performances I've ever seen. There's so much going on with so little actually illustrated ... one of my all time favourite Hong Kong films.
