Thanks, Barbara, for a compliment to the Lithuanian cinema, but you should watch Bela Tarr, Andrei Tarkovsky, Bergman or Dardenne brothers. You will notice that Lithuanians did not invent slow cinema. And if you want to realy understand "Lithuanian slow", watch any movie by Sarunas Bartas made before 2009. This is a rollercoaster on drugs in comparisson.
The director is LATVIAN. It is LATVIAN - HONG KONG film and that makes it extraordinary although reminds a lot of Lost in Translation. Action is not the subject here - it is indie... indies are slow. I really enjoyed the Chinese characters and was wondering how well did the script written by a Latvian filmmaker portray the essence of a Chinese living in Hong Kong.
