  1. Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film Hotel

Figgis takes the DV aesthetic favoured by the then-current Dogme95 collective, combines it with intermittent bursts of the four-way split-screen technique of his own Timecode2000 & adds something reminiscent of avant-garde theatre. The result is his most divisive & forward-thinking work to date; a gonzo adaptation of The Duchess of Malfi that is also part cannibalistic horror story part satire on modern filmmaking.
