Ratings & Reviews

  1. FISCHER's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

Du western bien ficelé, où l'on ne s'ennuie pas, les personnages et les situations étant bien campés. Il manque cependant dans ce climat de violence, la poésie et l'imagination qu'on pouvait espérer y trouver...

  2. Daniel S.'s rating of the film Hour of the Gun

Another academic western about Wyatt Earp/Doc Holliday/OK Corral. This one starts where the others end: after the well-known gunfight. Still not a single woman involved. This is a men story. And it's slightly boring. Aleady forgotten, I'm afraid.

  3. josé neves's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

TV. A beautiful title and a beautiful love story between two characters, solidly supported by Jason Robards and James Garner interpretations - though, hélàs, it's not a Hawks movie -, in a film that stands out of John Sturges usual pretentiousness.

  4. Wee Hunk's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

Part of the reason that I love James Garner is that he's cranky. That seems to fit the role much better than Burt Lancaster's nice guy role. This was more about the friendship, and how the two were more similar than different. Robards also fit better (more supporting) with Garner than Kirk did with Burt in 'Gunfight'. Kirk has a tendency to chew the scenery.

  5. The Mayor Of Hell's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

Classic fabricated version of oft told story. Court room drama thrown in there as well

  6. João Eça's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

Not nearly as brilliant as "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral", but still a hell of a picture. America's fight for law and civilization is revealed by Sturges as a complete hypocrisy. Every single trial in court that the spectator watches evolves into failure and impotence. Therefore Wyatt Earp has to cross the thin line between legal and criminal action to avenge his brothers. And in the process he kills himself inside.

  7. pjjrfan's rating of the film Hour of the Gun

I just love seeing Garner and Robards and this movie until recently was as close to the real story of the OK Corral that I had seen on film.
