I wouldn't even say this is top 10 in Wyler's amazing career, but its such a fun, breezy 60s comedy with O'Toole and Hepburn at the top of their games that one can't help but appreciate the film. Is the plot a bit absurd at times? Sure, but this is pure escapism cinema with a 60s panache that leaves you wanting more. 4 stars
Ritz, Givenchy, Jaguar, Cartier, Paris and Champagne. This IS high-class romantic comedy. I like the way William Wyler quotes Alfred Hitchcock, I also wonder how a director can shoot a picture about a counterfeit sculpture surrounded by genuine masterpieces in a STUDIO. This is an interesting mise en abyme, isn't it? Highly recommended.
