Ratings & Reviews

  1. Aardsy's rating of the film Humoresque

Every boy's dream: a drunk, rich, Joan Crawford.

  2. Matt Reddick's rating of the film Humoresque

Two of my favorite actors giving defining performances. Seemed a little long until that amazing final act... Oscar Levant does the Eve Arden role very well.

  3. Tabikenezer von Higglesbloom's rating of the film Humoresque

5 stars for the Joan Crawford bits, detracted stars for how this movie did her for no reason. Also, I'm using people's reactions to this movie/Joan Crawford to weed out misogynists from now on.

  4. Jack Hoehn's rating of the film Humoresque

what a knockout of a final scene from Joan Crawford!

  5. Howard Fritzson's rating of the film Humoresque

This is the ultimate movie star kitsch. Crawford is both magnificent and ridiculous. I love her more in this than in anything else, with the possible exceptions of "Grand Hotel" where she is good, "Rain" where she is true to the spirit of the piece and "Daisy Kenyon" where she is both good and true.

  6. mjgildea's rating of the film Humoresque

Didn't feel like the standard Warner Bros melodrama but despite Jean Negulesco's beautiful direction Humoresque was stunning. John Garfield was great and Oscar Levant was very fun if unsuccessful comic relief in this overtly grim-feeling story.

  7. Marcelo Pereira's rating of the film Humoresque

Impressive. Impressive how Joan Crawford - even with a supporting role - manages to steal away all the attention from the main character, that fastidious John Garfield. As to the movie itself, what a cheap melodrama. Needs more blood and poisoning bitches.

  8. MarcH's rating of the film Humoresque

No more gloriously melodramatic ending exists in the whole history of the world.

  9. Owen Sound's rating of the film Humoresque

One of Joan Crawford's very best performances. Her final scene is perfection.
