  1. Ethan's rating of the film Hurry Sundown

This is an interesting Southern melodrama that is chock full of sexual and racial tension and some pretty good performances.

  2. chanandre's rating of the film Hurry Sundown

    [Cinémathèque PT #454: 35 mm] (2007)

  3. Jaspar Lamar Crabb's rating of the film Hurry Sundown

Preminger's turgid melodrama is the anit-IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT...it's afraid to face the truth of what was happening in the South of 1948...the great liberal pulls all his punches in favor of a faux-Tennessee Williams potboiler. And made the decision to have Jane Fonda "play" Michael Caine's saxaphone? Surely the least erotic metaphor imaginable.
