    ...distressing, harrowing, devastating...

  2. Joseph Carthey's rating of the film Hypnosis

Benedek Fliegauf quoted Szabó before in his belief that the face is the most important surface in a film. With “Hypnos”, he shows us the distressed face of a young woman after a hypnosis reveals suppressed trauma. Memories return to her with fragments of symbolism: a childhood song, a crucifix on a necklace, an aged patriarch. As we watch her return to her past, slow creeping shots both disturb and impress.
