A delightful, honest and heartfelt story of the pain we all carry inside; the desire to be understood, to feel that what we are doing has merit. Set within the San Diego art & music community, I am not a Hipster becomes a search for reconciliation of the self. Dominic Bogart lays it all bare here bringing a raw and complex integrity to his character and the scene with his father is particularly poignant. 4 stars
Having just suffered a crippling bereavement the story resonated. Death is a common and often glamourised theme in film however the less sexy fall-out of the grieving period is less regularly addressed. I think the actor delivered a realistic and touching performance at times evoking a sense of anger and frustration in the viewer as happens in real life when someone just can't "get on with it".
