A movie that defined a whole new exploitation movie genre of "rape and revenge" where brutalized women take revenge on men. Camille Keaton gives a honest and memorable performance as revenging angel and her rape scenes are heart-breaking as she goes full into the scene and one can almost feel the penetrations from the evil men (who are lousy acted). Some effective death scenes, but this is a hard film to swallow.
i can't believe i watched the entire film.. it was absolutely disgusting and misogynistic... im glad she got revenge though and it was really satisfying when she locked the dude in the bathroom and chilled out listening to some records while he was dying.. only ok scene
Ok, so the drawn-out rape scenes are obviously highly exploitative and uncomfortable to watch, but when she sets out on her revenge trip and completely humiliates and destroys the perpetrators, I feel like the lingering camera of the first half isn't redeemed, but overall the film turns into a more understandable subversion of exploitation. I just don't find any of it particularly well made or interesting.
There's feminism, post-feminism, second-wave feminism, and then there's this. This is feminazism. I guess the idea is to show how brutal and cruel a rape is, and it totally succeeds in doing that. But the fact that there's not a single likeable male character is just too much. I mean, I'm a guy and I wanted to cut my dick off and shout "girl power" when the film ended; and that's just wrong.
