Wagner's debut does not completely fuse together as a whole but the individual scenes involving various L.A. types are more fascinating than most Bret Easton Ellis people even when the melodrama veers into the realm of the hysterical. This is thought provoking on the idea level but Wagner's characters don't speak like real people most of the time but as fictional constructs so it really becomes an adaptation problem.
