Ader fails to control his emotions and bursts out in sobs, after which he tries to wipe away the tears with his hand. There is no camera movement and no background in the film, whereby any trace of anecdote except for the action vanishes.

That's nothing. One time, I cried all day. Felt pretty good the next day getting that out of my system. BTW, I found the soundtrack for this short. "Sorry seems to be the hardest word.", by Elton John. Either that or "Don't cry for me Argentina" sung by Karen Carpenter.
