    3.5. The director said in an interview that it he considered it astonishing at the time that he, an East German director with past trouble with the censors, was allowed to make a film in an "exotic" country and that it was made with great enthusiasm. It's quite lovely and the director's affection for the country is everywhere apparent, though it doesn't get much deeper than a charmed tourist's perspective.
