Violent comedy in the same vein as a Tarantino film. In Order of Disappearance is a hilarious self-contained revenge film fueled by a fantastic performance from Stellan Skarsgard. The death cards are brilliantly hilarious; characters are wonderful in their quirkiness; the only thing that keeps this from being amazing is its predictability.

I wanted to like this but the plot is ludicrously thin (there's almost no build up, suspense or credibility to any of the titular events) and it lapses too often into casual misogyny and racial stereotyping. On the plus side, Skarsgård and Bruno Ganz are both on top form and Norway's snowy, Fargo like, backdrop is stunning (yet the film lacks the humanity or humour of that clear inspiration).
A blackly comic anti-thriller set in the frozen tundra of Norway's Arctic Circle. Skarsgard gives a near wordless central performance as a grieving father who finds meaning in killing the people behind his son's death. The film is broken up with inserts that mirror the manner in which death's are announced in Norway, a framing device that also draws attention to the loss of human life in an unusual fashion.
Fantasia '14 Moland delivers one of the best genre films of the year with this abundant mix of revenge,carnage and pitch black Nordic comedy. Stellan Skarsgard is magnificent here as a father out for revenge against a drug ring for the murder of his son. The title is a play on the framework of the film and is an inspired idea that won't be ruined here. Coming up with something novel in this genre should be rewarded.
