What are people saying?

  • José Neves's rating of the film The Intervention

35mm. It stands out above all for the unusual: a camp film, politically heterodox, aesthetically heteroclite made in the Soviet Union, in a post-Khrushchev period when freedom was again blocked - the film was immediately censored. The enormous sympathy that it arouses is not accompanied by a cinematographic inventiveness that could give a visual transcription at the same level of revelry, performances and set design.
