Ratings & Reviews

  1. Stian Gledje Bekkvik's rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

    It's everything I thought I despised...

  2. Brotherdeacon's rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

Another strident cartoon on anti-fascism, the ills of capitalism and assorted things we shouldn't think. It plays like a lampoon.

  3. Diderot's rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

Leave it to Straub and Huillet to pack this much punch into a 15 minute short. A masterpiece.

  4. Marc St-Cyr (Death cinéphilia)'s rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

We are all fascists. http://films7.com/art/film/schoenberg-kandinsky-aryen-juif (french subtitles)

  5. Samuel Andrade's rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

    "Threatening Danger, Fear, Catastrophe".

  6. Karthik's rating of the film Introduction to Arnold Schoenberg's Accompaniment to a Cinematic Scene

The film starts with the nightmare image that ends History Lessons & confronts Schoenberg's letters to Kandinsky about antisemitism with Brecht's text about fascism & capitalism. That cut from one to the other through a prickly Huillet stroking her cat is astonishingly provocative. THIS is the true 'alienation effect': a scourge to the ethical imagination, not the 'we are playing at playing' tripe that passes for it
