Our take

Charting an American teen’s fascination with a perhaps premature sexual awakening, Eliza Hittman’s observational debut feature is anchored by a steadily heartbreaking turn from Gina Piersanti. The film’s transfixing, elliptical visual style seems to spill directly from its lead’s consciousness.
