Ratings & Reviews

  1. Stefano Pedrocchi's rating of the film It Was the Son

Everything is so theatrical here, on many levels. Sicilian people are by nature tragic, certainly because of their Greek ancestors. Servillo is borrowed from the proscenium and his whole body is designed for it, but I think he suits very well in roles where he is strictly characterized. For how trivial it might look at first glance, dreadful features of human relations are dealt with quite deeply. Nice photography.

  2. samuele90's rating of the film It Was the Son

Grazie, Camillo Benso.

  3. MATTEO BITTANTI's rating of the film It Was the Son

The scene at the beach was shot in Boterovision.

  4. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film It Was the Son

Confrontational and witty, “It Was a Son” makes a deliciously poignant look into a Sicilian family marked by the misfortune of an accidental death and its own greediness. Full Review: http://alwayswatchgoodmovies.blogspot.com/2013/12/it-was-son-2012.html

  5. marco's rating of the film It Was the Son

In my opinion the best 2012 italian movie.

  6. Zissou's rating of the film It Was the Son

2 1/2. Stessa rabbia, stessa amarezza ma maggior prevedibilità. Gran lavoro di fotografia.

  7. Yuri La's rating of the film It Was the Son

Sublime in describing 'italian being' through typical cultural lines of South people, an enjoyable black comedy about pain and cynicism in a wasteland dear to the director, with a stunning formal and narrative style.

  8. Joe Silver's rating of the film It Was the Son
