It’s not really a laugh. I thought it was rather a heavy autobiographical drama that swings halfway between laughing and crying. The main actress has a lot of guilt on her shoulders and she struggles with issues such as money, love, family and faith. It is partly a surreal family drama. But if you love something unusual then this is a relief.
An interesting film. Absurd, yet never enough to disengage the viewer. Indeed, it's the length that is most exhausting—but the meandering storyline has undoubted strong points, reinforced by a fantastic cast and beautiful score. If your patience is well-disciplined, you may find merit here. There are, however, much tighter family dramas out there.
