A classic 80's thriller as they don't make them for the big screen anymore (written by Joe Eszterhas who later did the similar and far superior Basic Instinct). Jagged Edge is undoubtedly flawed, but the light-weighted court room drama is pretty sharply directed and the performances are top notch (Glenn Close, Jeff Bridges, Peter Coyte og and Robert Loggia which earned an Oscar nomination). Enjoyable stupidity! 3+
Certainty is never assured in the courtroom and it would be wrong to think the legal system is 'truthful'. This would be fine as a film about the human corruption of ideals, but instead its wrapped up in a fairly boring thriller as well. The lack of chemistry makes things worse, and the fact that Eszterhas replicated & bettered this a few years later means it can pretty much be relegated to the past.
Great movie with incredible performances! Glenn is just mesmerizing as a bad ass lawyer and a super mother. This film is going straight to my favorites list. Excelent scenography, especially Teddy's house, with the toys and objects that allude to motherhood. There's also the painting and the mug at her office. I love these details.
